Dieting to Lose Weight - Does It Ever Work?

In spite of the diet industry being a multi-billion dollar a year industry, and people from most civilized countries becoming more and more health conscious, the world is still largely overweight, and getting heavier all the time. It would seem that all the dieting, healthy eating, exercising, and other countless pills, powders, and programs end up failing more often than not, and dieting to lose weight is a lost cause... but is it? Does it ever work? Can dieting actually work for the long term? Yes it can, but the reasons why the majority of all diet attempts fail at some point are common, and deeply ingrained in our psyche. They are important points to recognize in order to overcome the dieting downfalls that keep us overweight.
