Here are the top five hCG diet myths. Hopefully these will help if you are considering the hCG diet as a weight loss method. Myth 1. Anybody can lose weight on a VLCD (Very Low Calorie Diet.) Fact: The fact is, this just isn't true. VLCD diets, without the hCG protocol, can be downright dangerous. Simply starving yourself with a 500 calorie per day diet can actually be harmful, and usually results in binge eating and gaining any lost weight back again. When the body goes into starvation mode, it doesn't use the excess body fat as fuel. Unfortunately, it uses muscle first, and saves the fat for future use. The whole point and power of the hCG diet is that hCG signals the body to burn excess fat first, allowing the body to drop as much as 1-2 pounds of excess fat every day. Myth 2. hCG needs to be delivered by daily injections to be most effective.
